Hatha & Yin Yoga Teacher Training 200h

We Can Help You Become A Yoga Alliance Certified Yoga Teacher Within the Next 12 Weeks

Dear future Yoga Teacher,

We are Lucas Casanova & Kimhye Jin and we are the teachers that heart-centered Yogi(ni)s go to when they need help with becoming Yoga Teachers. Whether they want to start their own studio, work in a studio, host online classes, or expand their knowledge and understanding of Yoga to take their own practice to the next level.

In case you’ve never heard of us, here is why we are qualified to tell you about how you can become a world-class Yoga Teacher… when you follow our guidance:

✔️ Kimhye has built several 5-star studios within yoga, dance & fitness… and… She did it all in just 4 years

✔️ Lucas has been invited to talk about everything he knew about yoga and recovery at the prestigious TEDx and is writing a book about dealing with life-changing crises using yoga and meditation as practical and down-to-earth tools

And most importantly to YOU, as an aspiring Yoga Teacher:

✔️ Lucas has more than 3,500 hours of teaching experience and graduated hundreds of students as the headteacher at different international YTT´s

✔️ Kimhye has dedicated large parts of her life to studying how to transform blockages, negative emotions, and traumas into freedom and knows exactly how to support you. She also hosts The Tantra Rebel Podcast going in-depth on these topics with Lucas every week

But we ́re not writing this just to talk about ourselves. We want to show you how we can help you become a Certified Yoga Teacher …starting your own journey today!

Let´s face it – the world is becoming an increasingly more strange and complex place with each passing day… We are experiencing a massive increase in demand for the grounding and deeper connection that Yoga can provide… and there is a great opportunity right now to learn these tools and share them with others as a Yoga Teacher!

But Yoga is much more than the physical practice on the mat… We believe that to become a Yoga Teacher that can lift yourself and others up, you need to integrate body, mind & soul. This teacher training is a transformational experience designed to help you with that.

💡 Click the “Curriculum” tab on the top of this page to see all the modules and preview lessons.

✔️ Classic Yoga Styles

An exploration of the classical traditions and their core philosophies, including Hatha, Tantra, Yin, and Vinyasa yoga. Learn about the roots of yoga and how it has branched out to where it is today.

✔️ Asanas

We will go in-depth on the most commonly used yoga positions, how they should be performed correctly and how you as a teacher should adjust others. Knowledge of health benefits, modifications, and adaptations in case of injury. You will learn names in English and Sanskrit.

✔️ Meditation & Mindfulness

You will get a toolbox with powerful techniques and mantras that are not necessarily common in an ordinary yoga teacher education. We recommend daily meditation in the morning and/or evening during the training course and we will help you develop your personal meditation practice that you can take with you further.

✔️ Anatomy & Physiology

You will explore how the body works, and apply this important knowledge in safe and effective practice and teaching. For many, anatomy can be the scariest thing about a yoga education, but we will do our best to break it down as easily as possible.

✔️ The Chakra System

You will learn about the body’s energy field, which organs they belong to, and health benefits. Chakra literally means “spinning wheel”, and according to the yogic view, chakras are a symbiosis of energy, thoughts/feelings, and the physical body

✔️ Philosophy

The main philosophy of yoga is simple: mind, body, and spirit are all connected and cannot be separated. Yet there is a multitude of philosophical ideas developed by looking at the deeper dimensions of the body, mind, and spirit.

✔️ Breathing Techniques

Breath is the connection to life and the basis of all classical Hatha yoga practices. The breath has a profound effect on the nervous system and a profound effect on the quality of life, both on and off the yoga mat. You will learn breathing techniques that can be used in meditation, yoga practice, and various purposes such as relaxation or exhilaration.

✔️ Sequencing & Structuring

You will learn how to use the toolkit offered in the yoga system to create meaningful sequences. A good class is not just physically challenging with randomly composed asanas. With an intention and meaning in building and implementing the class, you will experience both more satisfied students and more joy in teaching.

✔️ Introduction to Ayurveda

A fascinating and practical science from ancient India that offers tools to better understand yourself and others therapeutically through the context of doshas, gunas, and prana.

✔️ Pedagogy & Teaching Techniques

We go in-depth on the most commonly used yoga positions, how they should be performed correctly and how you as a teacher should adjust others. Knowledge of health benefits, modifications, and adjustments in case of injury.

Getting help and support is just one click away! While some of you may be dreaming of attending a YTT in places like Bali – this period in time has given us groundbreaking new tools, and fundamental lessons… We are not bound by time and place to become great teachers… and the new tools actually let us support you better than ever before! So why not become a Yoga Teacher first – and then travel to Bali? 🙂

In our Q & A section, you simply record your video on the topic you need help or support with, and send it to us. The teachers will then reply with a video answer!

We have an international team, and you can ask your questions in English, Spanish or Norwegian.

✔️ Ask us anything: On-demand 1-1 video support

Are you stuck on a topic, want to know if you are on the right track, or just want to reach out? We are here for you. You will have access to our teachers and can ask them questions when you want. They will follow up with you personally.

✔️ Meditation Q & A

Ask us about meditation, philosophy, and esoterical questions. Or just share your experience with us…

✔️ Asana Q & A

Get feedback on posture, alignment, and more…

✔️ Anatomy Q & A

✔️ Exam Q & A

Another essential lesson is the significance of connection. Even with world-class training taking you step-by-step through the modules, this process was not supposed to take place in a vacuum. Sangha is a Sanskrit word that captures the essence of a spiritual community. In our weekly hangouts, you will connect with our Sangha. So you can share your experiences with like-minded people that are on the same journey as you.

And if you are shy, just turn off your camera – you will still feel a connection and find support in the community 💚
We also have a private Facebook community group where you can share your experience, get inspiration and ask questions.

Hangouts are not recorded – we want these conversations to be fresh, private, and  “in the moment”.
Attending hangouts is not mandatory, but highly encouraged.

✔️ Connect with the community on weekly hangouts

✔️ Themed conversations led by the teachers

✔️ Get guidance from the community

Getting practice is an important part of your training. We encourage you to establish a daily practice! Attending our live-streamed classes is an excellent way of achieving that. You will join in with the teachers in a variety of classes that are held every week. In addition to getting more practice yourself, you will also be able to study the way they teach…

Inside the course platform, you will see the live-stream schedule in your own time zone. You simply book the classes you want to do and get reminders before they start. No other software or different login is needed.

You will get replays from the classes you book. You do not have to attend the classes live to get the replays.
Live classes are not mandatory.

✔️ Get practice on the mat with the teachers

✔️ Classes are streamed every week

✔️ Variety of different styles

Even before joining our teacher training, many people ask us about the exam. While this may vary from school to school, you do not need to fear the exam with us. Our take on the exam is that it should be something fun and uplifting. We firmly believe that you will be very well prepared after going through the course, and the exam is simply just a last “check” before we can hand over the certification to you! 🙂

The exam itself consists of theory and practice. The theory is a multiple choice quiz, and the practice is a 20 minute guided video class that you send to us.

The teacher training is hosted by The Shala Yoga & Mindfulness, which is a Registered Yoga School (RYS) with Yoga Alliance (YA). After completion of the theoretical and practical exam, you will be eligible to become a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT200) with Yoga Alliance.

Now that you are a Certified Yoga Teacher it is time to share your service with the world! Not everyone wants to go out in a “big way” with their practice. Some take the training mostly for their own part, and this is perfectly fine. But for those ready to actually become a professional – someone who makes a living by teaching – this is your section!

Here you will learn about marketing, social media, selling your services, and creating your website – so that you have a proven method of getting clients, and greatly increase your chances of being hired to teach in a Yoga studio.

We have been doing this for many years and this is a big passion for us… Because we know the impact learning these skills will have on your own life and the many lives you will touch! You can be a positive and uplifting source of energy in this world, you can do it for a living, and you can even make a great living by teaching Yoga 💚

And we want to show you how to do it effectively and ethically – coming from a heart-centered space.

✔️ The business of Yoga

✔️ How to market yourself

✔️ Creating your own brand

✔️ Basics of social media

✔️ Get your 5 first clients in 2 weeks (or less)

✔️ Effective (and beautiful looking) ready-made website template

✔️ BONUS #1: Ready-made website template

This template was exclusively made by our web designer for you to simply plug in your own details. It is created specifically for Yoga Teachers that have taken our course. The design is beautiful and effective. It was created with conversion as the top priority – meaning the main goal of your website is to turn your website visitors into clients!

✔️ BONUS #2: The Asana Workbook

You will get high-res photos with Chloë showing the correct expression for each of the 42 poses that are covered in the course, with the English and Sanskrit name for each pose. Along with your own notes, this will become your personal “encyclopedia” to lookup in whenever you are unsure of the correct posture and alignment.

✔️ BONUS #3: Class Sequences

This is the holy grail of planning your classes, and immensely useful for new teachers fresh out of the course. With these 24 pre-made class sequences you will have everything you need to set up your first classes. Every sequence contains illustrations of the poses, names, timing, and cues!

Meet our teachers:

Lucas Casanova

Lucas has graduated hundreds of students and been the headteacher and guest teacher at several different international teacher trainings. He started with yoga to cope with stress and anxiety and is very active on social media to spread knowledge and motivation to others in the same situation.

Lucas is originally from Buenos Aires and has traveled the world to study yoga and Buddhist philosophy. He teaches Mindful Yin, Restorative, Yoga Therapy, Yoga Nidra, Mindfulness and Meditation, and has more than 3,500 hours of teaching experience.

Lucas is also a trained Buddhist therapist with a background in neuroscience and anatomy.
A more knowledgeable, down to earth and loving yoga teacher would be hard to find!

In 2017, he had to use everything he knew about yoga and recovery to overcome a life-threatening brain tumor and subsequent surgery. One year later, he is on stage giving a lecture at the prestigious TEDx and is writing a book about dealing with life-changing crises using yoga and meditation as practical and down-to-earth tools.

Kimhye Jin

Kimhye is originally from South Korea but was adopted to Norway when she was four years old. She grew up in a creative and safe environment, with lots of love and spirituality as a natural part of growing up.

Her father was a famous actor, and her mother was a singer and actress before she started a whole new direction within alternative medicine and Ayurveda. She learned to meditate as a 9-year-old and called herself a Buddhist from a very early age.

Kimhye has a background as a professional dancer and artist in addition to building lifestyle businesses including dance, fitness, and yoga. She is the founder of The Shala Yoga & Mindfulness and has dedicated large parts of her life to studying spirituality and how to transform blockages, negative emotions, and traumas into freedom. She also hosts the podcast TANTRA The Rebel Path co-hosted by Lucas.

She is a certified Life Coach, EFT therapist, meditation teacher, Yin Yoga 25h, and RYT 200h Vinyasa teacher.

Chloë Nemier

Chloë Nemier is originally from Vancouver, Canada, and trained as a dancer, fitness, pilates, and Hatha / Yin 200h instructor.

She is passionate about body awareness and movement and is an anatomy geek who is always looking for more knowledge and experience. She loves helping people reach their personal goals and is always there for students and colleagues who need tips or advice on good exercises and techniques.

Chloë strongly believes in combining focus and form with a lot of fun. If you think the anatomy is boring, this girl will make you change your mind.

Liv Lillehei

Liv is from Washington, D.C. and a classically trained dancer since the age of 5, training with Pacific Northwest Ballet, Washington Ballet, The Royal Danish Ballet (scholarship winner), and Den Norske Opera & Ballet.

Liv is certified in pilates, stretching, and Hatha/Yin 200h. She loves to sing and dance, performing random acts on Broadway, so don`t get surprised if she starts to sing in one of her classes. Technique and muscle awareness are important and serious but having fun is just as important.

Liv makes her classes playful and enjoyable and loves adjustments and free flow.

Practical Exam Video
The exam consists of two parts; a final quiz and a short video with you leading a class that you will send to us. You will be well prepared for the quiz as you can test yourself using the same questions that you will see on the final quiz. The video you will simply record using your phone where you lead a 20-minute class. We will review your class and give you uplifting and constructive feedback. In the few rare cases where a class is not approved, you will be able to try again.
Inside the course, you will be able to see when the classes are held in your time zone. You can book classes to get reminders before the event starts, and get a replay link after the session has ended - even if you did not attend live. The live classes are not mandatory.
This training is for anyone who wants to go deeper into yoga to get a comprehensive understanding of the theoretical, philosophical, spiritual, and physical aspects of the practice. Whether you want to work as a teacher or not after completing the training is entirely up to you. Some students participate in the training solely for their own growth, other students start teaching soon after they finish the course.
The short answer is YES. You will be able to join the course, get the certification, and have a very good foundation for your practice! You should expect a steep learning curve and a lot of new information... In order to work as a teacher, however, you will need experience. How much experience you need will vary depending on your background. If you are new to teaching others we recommend getting confident leading classes for friends and seek to assist in classes before you lead a class in a professional setting.
You will able to complete the course in 12 weeks. This the minimal timeline to expect if you are taking the course part-time. It would require approx. 2 hours daily on average. Most students spend a longer time than 12 weeks - this is totally OK! Whether you need 6 months or a full year.... you will be able to complete the exam when YOU are ready.
Yes, the course is Yoga Alliance approved and is hosted by The Shala Yoga & Mindfulness with YA ID 329091. Upon completion of the course, you will receive your certification and are eligible for RYT200.
